I bought DayZ for my ps4 pro as I loved the look of the world, just getting lost and surviving is always fun to me and this is exactly what this games brings, only with Friends (of which I have none, please help me!).
I never played DayZ on PC, as I am a console gamer (Let the hate flood in! Come at me brah!) and to be honest, if I did get back into PC gaming, I can see myself losing half my life to WoW. Right, I don't usually write reviews and this is just my personal opinion, but, this game is getting far too much hate. I bought DayZ for my ps4 pro as I My first review. Or an bush camper getting an malfunction going unnoticed by the enemy. My first review. "Ī run and gunner hitting a malfunction rushing someone. Īnswer to: " but malfunctions fuck over any playstyle. That's what I think a game makers brain works. There actually exists chess with cards and / or dice. If every thing can be relied or accounted for, and you've nailed the tactics it gets stale. Therefore I think adding rng adds to the experience in tactical games. It's something new to bear in mind and change up your tactics. If one plays video games too much, and have a good set of tactics and can fairly predict how other players will react, an mechanic like malfunctions bring fresh air to the game. So think of misfires as that dice roll, always bear in mind that your shot can fail and plan accordingly. In DnD you as archer roll a dice if you miss your shot, or totally fail. Misfires are a good example for the RPG element in tarkov.
I'm all about making my games experiences more exhilarating.Īnd tarkov is full of mechanics with RNG that create the whole experience. They have the ability to make you feel great. Misfires add the possibility of fucking over an long time chad player and grants an new player the possibility of landing the shot of his tarkov career.Īnd therefore I say malfunctions are a good mechanic. The game is about :" a good raid is when it creates a story you want to tell your friends about, and it does not matter if you live or die." Nik in podcast The sense of accomplishment will totally make up for the 10 times you died before. If you die 10 times to malfunctions ( ignoring that your position was just bad ) and win a fight despite having to clear a malfunction. In fact I'd say : winning all the time is what makes a game booring. The game is full of rng and it's part of why you like the game. Yes, that game can be brutal if you don't know what you are doing, is adrenaline enducing and throws bits of accomplishment at you. 100% in tarkov just is the best used state you can get. " no! You are in an exclusion zone and buy from shady dealers that hate you. The rate of malfunctions has been halved since introducing them. Malfunctions are battling the run and gun playstyle that shouldn't be viable in an game that wants to be tactical and survival.Ĭurrently misfires represent any malfunction that can happen ( animations need to be made ) I know it isn't a PVP only game but surviving a handful of zombies gets boring. I try to dabble into Scum between patches but it just doesn't have enough to warrant roaming such a large map and never seeing 1 other person.
Non-official servers can improve some of this luckily but with them tends to come power hungry mods sadly. They keep tweaking it so I hope they fix it soon, but it's easier to get military loot rather than basic weapons most times. For me surviving isn't a struggle without competition.Īnd right now how Scum spawns stuff is. Spawning in Scum can put you anywhere so again you're less likely to run into anyone if you're lucky/unlucky. They really need to fix this as they keep expanding the map size and it makes the game feel hollow. The servers can't handle enough AI zombies, animals, or even players per map. The zombies react to vertical sound poorly which misleads you on where they are. However zombies currently in Scum are a joke. So a lot of stuff is improved don't get me wrong. Scum was made to be better obviously and they used Dayz as a template. Just a prisoner roaming a randomly abandoned island. it makes you feel like the world ended and you are struggling to survive. But the feel of Dayz has a charm to it for me.
If you've never played it it's hard to explain.
